EVERYONE HAS A VOICE

Quite simply the joy of singing with others and discovering that everyone has a voice. Even if you think you’re not that good at singing, the more experienced members act like a tuning fork and bring you along with them.

It is good for mind body and soul and you never go home without having had a laugh!

Our leader Kathryn is incredible and brings out the best in all of us. I leave practice on a high and singing my head off.

There is no pressure to perform…. you dont have to go to any events if you don’t want to (but they are great fun).

You can just come along to the sessions and walk away with a smile – every time.

END THE DAY WITH A SMILE

I joined in 2011 after seeing the TV documentary and love being part of the Rock Choir phenomenon.

If I’ve had a bad day at work and feel that I can’t be bothered going, I force myself to go to rehearsal as I know it will boost my spirits and I’ll end the day with a smile on my face.

I never would have imagined singing on stage at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, on the pitch at Murrayfield Stadium, the home of Scottish Rugby, with Chesney Hawkes and Kim Wilde at the Genting Arena, at Abbey Road or with the orchestra of Scottish Opera.

And as for being a Guinness World Record holder – WOW!

GIVE ROCK CHOIR A GO

Rock Choir is easy to get in, one is welcome straightaway and the way of rehearsing makes you moving with the singing and since things are learnt by ear, also give your brain a workout!

I love the energy and catchy songs. The harmonies are such that a less experienced singer is able to sing them but also give a more experienced singer interest, for every harmony has their place to shine in the arrangements.

Do give Rock Choir a go, I’m even enjoying the virtual choir as much as my regular rehearsal.

SO WELCOMING AND INCLUSIVE

Rock Choir is the best fun you can have while sober!

It doesn’t matter what your previous singing experience it is (even if that is none!) as they are so welcoming and inclusive.

I wish I’d joined sooner (mind you, then I wouldn’t have the fabulous Simon Reynolds as my choir leader!)

BEST THING I EVER DONE

It a wonderful family to be in. Thanks to Caroline who started Rock choir.

We sing lots of fun songs, the rock choir leaders are so enthusiastic and make learning the song great fun.

We have have had amazing experiences such as recording at abbey road studio, we have performed at proms in the park, Edinburgh fringe festival, to Name a few.

You make lovely friends that maybe you wouldn’t have ever met and all through the love of singing.

It’s the best thing I ever done 4 years was to join rock choir. I absolutely love it. 😄😄

SO UPLIFTING

I’ve just been to one of the taster sessions and I loved it!! Such fun and so uplifting.

The choir leader was brilliant and made everyone feel very relaxed and welcome. It certainly has the feel good factor.

I will definitely be joining up as a full member. Can’t wait for the next session!

Such a great experience, singing in the choir is uplifting, meeting lots of likeminded people is fantastic the songs are ones we all know, true to the original with the Rock Choir twist.

MUSIC, THE SHOWS AND GIGS

It was my daughter in law who introduced me to Rock Choir over 4 years ago and now she says that she created a monster!

It’s such a big part of my life, the best “hobby” (actually more of an obsession!) that I’ve ever done.

Best things about it? The music, the shows and gigs, the dedication and talent of the leaders, my improvement in health and, most of all, the wonderful friends I’ve made – all in all, the whole package!

Absolutely everything… certain phrases are so overused but I am going to use one as RC is life-affirming.

It has given me a huge circle of the very best people I’ve ever had the privilege to meet at a time in my life when I never thought I would share what I do.

This has been the best thing I have done for years.

I have joined the Caerphilly Rockies and look forward to my couple of hours of meeting new friends and learning new songs every week.

WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE?

Friendly cheerful atmosphere, I particularly like the fast learning pace, during group tuition, and the way we can learn our voice parts as homework, in our own time, making it much easier to be well prepared for the next class.

I love the gigs, and we are always very much appreciated by the public it seems.

HELPED ME OUT OF A DARK PLACE

Rock choir came into my life at a bad time in my life.

Meeting some amazing people has really helped me out of a dark place.

Our amazing leader Rachel is a beautiful person both inside and out. I wish her luck as she awaits her new arrival very soon.

A BIG PART OF MY LIFE

Love it – Been with Elaine’s Giffnock choir since day 1 and loved every minute of it.

We have all grown together and she is an amazing leader – always smiling and positive and a great inspiration for us all.

Also made a lot of amazing friends and sang in places, I never dreamed of.

You don’t have to be able to read music or understand musical terminology or pass an audition.

The choir leaders are so good at teaching the songs in a fun and memorable way, they are incredible!

SO MANY EXCITING THINGS

Rock Choir is one of the highlights of my week.

I joined more than six years ago and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Everyone is so friendly, the sessions are fun and uplifting, and we do so many exciting things together.

My all-time favourite ‘official’ Rock Choir event was singing at the O2. But our group does other stuff, organised by our wonderful prefects. 69 of us descended on the West End in November to see ‘Kinky Boots’ – huge fun!

My husband has incurable cancer, and I find so much support at Choir. The times we are singing, both in rehearsals and during performances, help me to forget my worries and stresses for a while.

I can’t speak too highly of how great Rock Choir is!

Absolutely life changing.

I have been in Rock Choir 10 years this year. The joy of singing and the friends I have made are amazing. It is also thanks to the brilliant Rock Choir Leaders and Caroline and all RC staff.

All I can say is thank you it’s not enough. At the moment you are providing all of us with live streams everyday, videos of all vocal parts for songs. In times of trouble you have stepped up to help us all.

THE BEST EXPERIENCE

It’s simply the best experience of singing and friendship and the best group I’ve ever been privileged to be part of.

The way Rock Choir is coping with the Covid-19 lockdown is inspirational and has been achieved through enormous amounts of hard work on the part of all the leaders and staff members and Caroline Redman Lusher.

FABULOUS

I have only just joined but even during lockdown whilst I have been unwell to say the least it is the one thing I have always known I have been able to return to to cheer me up when I have been strong enough.

Fabulous for mental and physical health.

YOU HAVE A MEMBER FOR LIFE!!

I couldn’t believe how welcoming everyone was and how I felt at home straight away. How I’d missed singing. I will never leave. You have a member for life!!

After a year of enjoying weekly meetups and a few performances, the dreaded pandemic hit. But Rock Choir to the rescue. With not only weekly Zoom sessions, but there was also a daily sing-along plus recording opportunities and socials.

I know suddenly becoming a virtual choir isn’t for everybody, but I found myself being able to do more choir practice and connecting with Rockies not only from my own choir but from other choirs, both Chris and his wife Charlotte run. I’m loving the video resources and love being able to learn the songs at my pace and have something to practice with in between rehearsals. I do hope these continue when we return to usual rehearsals. 

Rock Choir aren’t lying when they say we’re one big happy family. I can image for those who have little or no family, this is an absolute lifeline for them.

I’m lucky enough to have a large network of family and friends; many of whom are my fellow Rockies.

After marrying my hubby and having my children, Rock Choir was the best decision I ever made. And I’m happy to shout this from the roof tops.

I love Rock Choir and I’m one very proud Rockie.

Give it a go. You’ve got nothing to lose and absolutely tonnes to gain from it.

THE BEST THING I HAVE DONE

I joined Rock Choir in September 2012. I felt l needed something more in my life.

I saw The Choir That Rocks and signed up for a taster. It is the best thing l have done.

My confidence has just grown and grown. I have a lovely Choir leader and have met and made friends with lovely people.

Never did l know what experiences l would have including charity fund raising. ☺ ♥

THE MOST WONDERFUL THING

I joined last week after becoming ill and having to give up everything I loved doing , but it didn’t take away my passion for singing ..

After 2 sessions I feel back alive again.. I’ve even put my name forward to be tried out for a solo place ..

It’s been the most wonderful thing I’ve taken up and I couldn’t recommend anything more for being the best tonic anyone could ever take.

Very welcoming and friendly and you can’t help but keep smiling yourself.

Learning the songs is fun and easy and then you all make this wonderful sound as you all sing along together.

RID OF DAILY STRESS

I joined Rock Choir Northampton evening group 2 years ago.

As a foreigner I was pretty concerned about my place in the choir. But I must admit that the people there were very friendly and supportive and still are, and I hope I blended in very easy.

I had no problems at all singing in the choir and I also met new friends there.

I am really happy to be member of Rock Choir. I love singing a lot ,I love songs we sing, I love to perform and be on stage feeling the power of our voices.

Singing in choir also helps a lot to get rid of daily stress and improve my voice. I truly suggest everyone to join Rock Choir and sing out loud to see that actually everybody can sing and enjoy singing!

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Having never sang a note before, I went along and had a go, no experience needed.

I can definitely say that it’s the best thing that anyone can do for themselves.

I joined Rock Choir in January this year.

It’s been fabulous. It’s fun, social and I’ve made many new friends.
