Rebecca & Flo Bring Two Beloved Songs to The Spotlight Sessions

The Spotlight Sessions celebrate the creative talents of Rock Choir Leaders nationwide. Professional vocalists and musicians who inspire thousands every week as part of the Rock Choir experience.

For their Spotlight Session, Rock Choir Leaders Rebecca and Florence Glen (Flo) created two beautifully intimate performances, reimagining Next To Me by Emeli Sandé and Little Lies by Fleetwood Mac.

Filmed at Ram Jam Records in Kingston, the session showcases the duo’s natural musical connection, blending expressive vocals with rustic piano and cajón to create performances that feel warm, honest and effortlessly musical.

Inspired by Music That Means Something

Their version of Next To Me was inspired by working alongside Emeli Sandé during Rock Choir LIVE at the BP Pulse Live Arena. Having shared such a memorable experience, Rebecca and Flo wanted to revisit one of her songs and create a version that reflected their own musical style.

For Little Lies, the inspiration came from somewhere different. The Fleetwood Mac classic has long been a favourite during their performances and is regularly requested by audiences. They also believe it would make a fantastic addition to The Spotlight Sessions, with its memorable melodies and beautifully layered harmonies lending themselves naturally to group singing.

Keeping It Simple

Rather than building elaborate arrangements, Rebecca and Flo chose to strip both songs back to their essentials. Piano, cajón and two voices allowed every harmony and musical detail to shine, creating performances that feel both intimate and timeless.

Rebecca’s background in jazz continues to influence her musical style, drawing inspiration from artists such as Chet Baker alongside harmony-rich groups including First Aid Kit and boygenius. Those influences can be heard throughout the session, giving familiar songs a fresh perspective while remaining true to the originals.

Filmed at Ram Jam Records

Recording at Ram Jam Records provided the perfect setting for the session. The relaxed environment allowed Rebecca and Flo to focus purely on the music while also spending time with the Rock Choir Digital Media Team and seeing first-hand how The Spotlight Sessions are created.

Music Beyond Weekly Choirs

Alongside leading choirs every week, Rebecca and Flo continue to perform professionally outside Rock Choir. The Spotlight Sessions offer an opportunity to share that side of their musical lives while celebrating the individuality that every Rock Choir Leader brings to the community.

Reflecting on choir leading, Rebecca shared a thought that will resonate with many Rockies:

“Sometimes it can feel difficult to leave your house… it might be cold and raining or you might be tired, but you always feel better after choir.”

It is that shared love of music and the positive feeling it creates that sits at the heart of both their Spotlight Session and the wider Rock Choir experience.
