Aimee & Hollie Open The Spotlight Sessions with Two Beautiful Covers
The Spotlight Sessions celebrate the creative talents of Rock Choir Leaders nationwide. Professional vocalists and musicians who inspire thousands every week as part of the Rock Choir experience.
For the opening session, Rock Choir Leaders Aimee and Hollie brought their musical partnership to life with two beautifully reimagined performances. Together they created fresh arrangements of Man I Need by Olivia Dean and Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns N’ Roses, showcasing not only their voices but also the creativity that sits behind every performance.
Filmed at The Loft, the session captures the pair doing what they love most: experimenting with harmonies, reshaping familiar songs and sharing their passion for music in an intimate live setting.
Reimagining Two Very Different Songs
Choosing Man I Need felt like a natural fit. Both singers are huge admirers of Olivia Dean’s music, and the opportunity to create their own arrangement of one of her most-loved songs was something they immediately embraced.
Alongside it, they took on an entirely different challenge by transforming Guns N’ Roses’ Sweet Child O’ Mine into a stripped-back acoustic ballad. Inspired by a Yacht Rock-inspired chord progression developed by Aimee, the pair spent hours experimenting with harmonies, phrasing and vocal textures to create something completely their own.
The result is two performances that stay true to the original songs while offering a fresh perspective through thoughtful vocal arranging and close harmonies.
Creating Music Together
For Aimee and Hollie, one of the most rewarding parts of the project was the creative process itself.
Working side by side, they spent hours developing ideas, trying different harmonies and reshaping both songs until they found arrangements that felt authentic to them. Having the freedom to explore different musical ideas away from rehearsals reminded them why they both fell in love with making music in the first place.
Reflecting on the session, they described the experience as “good for the soul”, giving them the opportunity to be creative purely for the enjoyment of making music together.
Performing at The Loft
After putting so much time into developing the arrangements, performing them at The Loft became the perfect way to bring the project to life.
The intimate venue allowed every harmony, musical detail and vocal texture to shine, while the relaxed filming environment helped capture the genuine connection between them both.
Celebrating the Musical Talent Behind Rock Choir
As Rock Choir Leaders, Aimee and Hollie spend every week inspiring thousands of members through music. The Spotlight Sessions offer a chance to see another side of that musicianship, celebrating the creativity, artistry and individuality that exists beyond weekly rehearsals.
They are excited to see other sessions in the series, highlighting performances from their friends and other Rock Choir Leaders in their element as professional musicians.
Drawing inspiration from artists including Freddie Mercury, Etta James, Norah Jones and Joni Mitchell, Aimee and Hollie’s session reflects a genuine love of music, thoughtful arranging and beautifully blended vocals.
