To celebrate the official launch of Rock Choir in the Republic of Ireland, Founder of Rock Choir, Caroline Redman Lusher MBE recently flew into Dublin to personally host two incredible singing workshops in the centre of the city at the iconic St Ann’s Church in Dawson Street. Over 500 members of the general public had booked into the workshops, which were full within 24 hours of being announced.

For those that attended, it was the chance to hear first-hand from Caroline as she explained the history of Rock Choir and how it had turned into the trailblazing contemporary choir phenomenon it is today in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and now the Republic of Ireland.

On the same day, at Bewley’s on Grafton Street, shoppers were treated to a surprise pop-up performance on their famous balcony by our Irish Rockies, which for many was their first public showcase in the city. Irish rock superstars U2 recently performed on the same balcony, cementing the location as a major musical landmark and Rock Choir are now part of the list of major acts to have performed there!

Many of our Irish Rock Choir Members went on from singing at Bewley’s to join the workshops at St Ann’s. Caroline was able to give her personal insight, memories and stories of how Rock Choir is not just a choir, but for many a life-changing experience. Theparticipants were amazed to learn a full multi-part harmony arrangement of Irene Cara’s classic hit, Fame, in under an hour.

Beyond the public workshops, the emotional highlight of the launch came from local members who joined the choir during its recent soft launch. Members shared moving stories of how joining Rock Choir has transformed their mental health, built lasting friendships, and restored their personal confidence. Despite launching only recently in Dublin, members have already performed for Mental Health Ireland at Connolly Station and taken to the stage at the prestigious Blue Light Awards.

Caroline Redman Lusher MBE, Founder of Rock Choir, commented:

“I had such a fantastic time in Ireland!

Meeting our new Irish ‘Rockies’ and hearing how their journey with us has already changed their lives for the better, was extremely special.

And then engaging and bonding with over 500 members of the public who attended our workshops on Saturday was superb fun! They picked up the new vocal arrangement of ‘Fame’ very quickly and confidently, so much so they nailed it in just 45 minutes! Wow!!! SO impressive.

Singing and being part of Rock Choir means that no-one ever has to sing alone or feel under pressure, scared or vulnerable. It’s amazing what happens when everyone comes together and becomes one choir – Rock Choir! The unique sound of each voice and their individual personality melts together to produce a joyous human sound! Breathing together, creating harmony and producing such emotional power filled the space!  The sound coming out of the venue really was beautiful!

Dublin you sounded amazing! Thank you SO much for letting me teach and lead you and explain what the special experience is that we offer as Rock Choir! I hope if you join you will enjoy every moment with us this term!”

As part of her whistle-stop tour, Caroline was also interviewed on Ireland’s biggest morning TV show – Ireland AM. This also featured clips of the now viral Rock Choir music video of Dreams as well as the Republic of Ireland’s first ever flash-mob moment by our Irish Rockies at the Dundrum Shopping Centre.
