Helen Tolputt – Rock Choir Wokingham
For Helen, joining Rock Choir marked a return to something she had not done since school.
After attending a Rock Choir taster session at a festival, she quickly rediscovered how much she loved singing.
“I fell in love with singing again.”
That moment led her to join her local Rock Choir in Wokingham, beginning a new chapter built around music, performances and weekly rehearsals she now looks forward to every Monday.
Stepping back into singing
Having not sung for many years, Helen never expected one taster session to have such an impact.
Her very first rehearsal immediately stood out.
“Everyone was so welcoming!”
That warm atmosphere helped her settle in quickly and made the experience feel enjoyable from the very beginning.
Switching off from a busy working life
With a fast-paced corporate career, Rock Choir has become an important space where Helen can completely slow down and reset.
“Rock Choir allows me to slow down and clear my mind every week.”
Even her commute has changed since joining.
“Practising songs on my commute makes the journey so much more enjoyable.”
For Helen, singing has become a way to step away from the pressures of work and focus entirely on the music.
Recording at Abbey Road Studios
One of Helen’s standout experiences so far has been singing and recording at Abbey Road Studios.
Known worldwide for its musical history and legendary recordings, the London studio has welcomed artists from The Beatles to modern global performers, making it an unforgettable place to perform.
For Helen, stepping inside Abbey Road became one of those moments that felt both exciting and surreal.
The energy of performing together
Alongside rehearsals, Helen loves the atmosphere that comes with performing as part of a choir.
“The community vibe is simply infectious and I love love love performing with others for a crowd.”
Those shared experiences, whether in rehearsal rooms or public performances, have become a huge part of what she enjoys most.
Laughter every Monday evening
For Helen, rehearsals in Wokingham bring much more than music alone.
“We laugh EVERY Monday which really makes a difference.”
That mix of singing, laughter and community has helped Rock Choir become an important and uplifting part of her week.
From rediscovering singing after many years to recording at Abbey Road Studios and performing alongside fellow Rockies, Rock Choir has helped Helen reconnect with music and find something that genuinely brings joy to everyday life.
