Louise – Rock Choir Cullompton
Louise joined Rock Choir for a deeply personal reason.
After being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), she made the decision to embrace every opportunity to enjoy singing and make the most of her voice.
“I have joined so that I can make the most of my voice while I can.”
What she found in her local Rock Choir in Cullompton was not only music, but also joy, encouragement and a welcoming community.

Making every note count
Louise’s story is one of determination and positivity.
Rather than focusing on what may lie ahead, she has chosen to focus on what she can enjoy right now, and singing has become an important part of that.
Rock Choir gives her a space to express herself, connect with others and celebrate the simple joy of music.
“It is a fabulous way to express myself.”
Through weekly rehearsals and performances, she has found something that motivates and uplifts her.
The excitement of a first performance
One of Louise’s favourite memories so far is her very first Rock Choir performance.
“My first gig, so exciting.”
Like many Rockies, that first performance brought a mixture of nerves, excitement and pride, creating a memory she will always treasure.
It was also an opportunity to experience the unique feeling of standing alongside fellow members and sharing music with an audience.
Support when it matters most
One moment that particularly stands out for Louise was the kindness shown by the people around her.
As her mobility has changed, fellow choir members helped make sure she was comfortable and able to take part fully in a performance.
“Everyone helped slot me into place after the rest of the choir was shuffled around.”
That practical support made a real difference and reinforced the welcoming atmosphere she has found within the choir.
“It was a huge help for me.”
Looking positively towards the future
For Louise, Rock Choir is much more than singing.
It provides motivation, friendship and an opportunity to focus on the things she enjoys most.
“It keeps me motivated to look positively into the future despite MND.”
Through music, community and shared experiences, Rock Choir in Cullompton has become an important part of Louise’s journey, helping her celebrate her voice and continue doing something she loves.
