Sharon Woods – Rock Choir Naas
Sharon discovered Rock Choir after coming across an advert on social media. What started as a simple moment of curiosity quickly turned into something she kept seeing again and again.
“I came across an ad on Facebook… then it just kept popping up.”
Eventually, she decided to take the next step and join her local Rock Choir in Naas, opening the door to something completely new.
Trying something she never imagined
Joining Rock Choir gave Sharon the chance to do something she had never pictured herself doing.
“I’m 56 and would never have imagined myself singing for anyone.”
Taking part in her first performance for friends and family became a moment she looks back on with pride, marking a big personal step forward.
A weekly space to feel at ease
Each rehearsal has become something Sharon looks forward to.
“Every Monday is a new experience… Daria makes singing so much fun and we have an amazing group.”
Those regular sessions in Naas have created a welcoming environment where she can enjoy singing while being part of a supportive group.
Finding support during a difficult time
Sharon’s journey with Rock Choir came at a time when she needed it most.
“My Mother passed… and I was completely lost and stressed trying to sort everything.”
In those early weeks, simply coming along to rehearsal began to make a difference.
“From the first Monday I joined, I was put at ease. Everyone is so friendly and I feel my confidence beginning to grow.”
“I can walk in feeling lost and come out feeling lifted up”
Over time, Rock Choir has become a place where Sharon can shift how she feels.
“I can walk in on a Monday after being so down and lost and come out feeling so lifted up.”
That change, week by week, has helped her rebuild confidence and find moments of positivity through music and connection.
A new sense of confidence
What started as something new has become an important part of Sharon’s routine.
Through singing, meeting others and simply being part of the group, she has found a space where she can feel supported, encouraged and more like herself again.
