Amanda Mackie – Rock Choir Rickmansworth

Amanda joined Rock Choir after a friend suggested going along to a taster session for a brand new choir. It was a simple decision at the time, but one that has stayed with her ever since.

“I signed up that same day and have been there ever since, for over 11 years.”

What started as trying something new quickly became part of her life, with rehearsals becoming something she continued to return to.

A journey that began with a yes

Saying yes to that first session opened the door to something Amanda hadn’t expected.

Over the years, being part of her local Rock Choir in Rickmansworth has brought new experiences, new friendships and a growing sense of confidence.

It has become a place where she can relax, enjoy the music and feel part of something shared.

“Developing the confidence to be me”

One of the most important parts of Amanda’s experience has been the change she has seen in herself.

“Developing the confidence to be me and making new friends.”

Through regular rehearsals and time spent with others in the choir, she has found a space where she feels comfortable and supported.

Those connections have grown naturally, building friendships that extend beyond the singing itself.

More than just singing

For Amanda, Rock Choir offers more than just learning songs each week.

It provides a sense of balance, a chance to step away from everything else and focus on something positive.

“My amazing choir leader Simon is the cheapest therapist I know!”

That light-hearted way of describing her experience reflects just how much she values the time spent at choir, not just for the music, but for how it makes her feel.

A part of everyday life

After many years, Rock Choir remains an important part of Amanda’s routine.

From that first taster session to where she is now, it has been a steady presence, offering enjoyment, connection and a place where she can simply be herself.
