Starting piano at the age of five and later achieving her Grade 8, Kate Threlfall has always had music at the heart of her life. The piano quickly became her playground—a space for both discipline and creativity—and it wasn’t long before singing followed. With a natural flair for music and a growing love of musical theatre, her passion deepened throughout her school years. Kate studied music at both GCSE and A Level, laying the foundations for a lifelong creative journey.

Determined to pursue her dreams, Kate moved to London to study singing and performing arts at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Immersed in voice, stagecraft, and musical storytelling, she developed not only her technical skills but also a deep understanding of what makes a performance truly connect with an audience.

Kate’s early career was full of energy, colour, and adventure. Kate began as a Redcoat at Butlins, where she discovered her love of entertaining and connecting with audiences of all ages, playing keyboards in a band and singing in the shows. That role soon led her to the high seas, performing as principal vocalist in the resident show team aboard cruise ships. These years at sea gave her the thrill of nightly shows, diverse audiences, and the chance to perform a wide range of material—all while building confidence, stage presence, and a love for uplifting others through music.

In 2011, Kate took on a new chapter as Rock Choir Leader for Barnsley, Doncaster, and Sheffield. Over more than a decade, she has built a thriving community of singers, creating a warm, supportive environment where people of all backgrounds and abilities come together to sing, laugh, and grow. Kate’s sessions are known for their positive energy, great music, and lots of laughter. Her teaching style is inclusive and encouraging—whether you’re a confident singer or someone who’s never sung in a group before, she creates an environment where everyone can thrive. She takes pride in watching her members grow in confidence, make new friends, and share in the magic of singing together.

Under Kate’s leadership, the choirs regularly take part in performances, community events, and charity fundraisers, helping to spread music and connection throughout the region. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and her choirs reflect her warm, down-to-earth personality—full of fun, friendship, and feel-good harmonies.

Kate believes music is for everyone. Whether it’s a big concert, a relaxed rehearsal, or a flash mob in the community, she brings professionalism, passion, and a touch of showbiz sparkle to everything she does. Her musical journey—from piano lessons as a child to professional stages and now to leading Rock Choir—has made her a passionate ambassador for the power of singing to transform lives.
