Music has always been at the heart of Sophie’s life. From an early age, she sang, wrote songs, and performed with various amateur dramatic companies. These early experiences on stage sparked a deep love for performing—a passion that has remained with her ever since. Sophie went on to study Music at Queen’s University Belfast, graduating with first-class honours and gaining invaluable experiences that would shape her future career. Her time performing with the jazz band The French Martinis laid the foundation for her solo career. As a solo original artist, Sophie has performed across the UK and Ireland, continuing to share her music under the stage name Sophie French.

Since becoming a Rock Choir Leader, Sophie has found a new passion in leading her wonderful Rockies in performances all across the country, spreading joy with the uplifting RC vocal arrangements. Music is Sophie’s passion and over the past 3 years Rockies have become her passion too. They sing together, laugh together, occasionally cry together – and have shared some once-in-a-lifetime experiences over the years.
Some Rock Choir performance highlights for Sophie and the members she leads are, Belfast Christmas Light Switch On (where we sang to over 10,000 people in front of Belfast City Hall), Stendhal Festival where we opened the Saturday on the main stage, and of course she can’t go without mentioning Edinburgh Fringe Festival!
