Marcus Alleyne is an award-winning conductor, musical director, and vocal coach known for his powerful, inclusive approach to community music-making. Based in Cornwall, Marcus leads a diverse musical career that spans choral and orchestral work, musical theatre, and large-scale public performance.
As Leader of Rock Choir Cornwall, Marcus directs hundreds of singers across multiple locations each week, creating uplifting and accessible musical experiences for people of all backgrounds. Under his leadership, Rock Choir Cornwall has performed at prestigious venues and festivals including Symphony Hall Birmingham, Boardmasters, the Eden Project, and the Minack Theatre. In recent years, the choir has taken to the global stage with performances at Carnegie Hall in New York (2025), the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (2024), and Abbey Road Studios (2026).
Marcus is also the Founder and Artistic Director of the South West Philharmonia & Chorus (SWPC), a choir and orchestra committed to accessible, high-quality music in the South West. With SWPC, he has conducted major works, premiered new compositions, and collaborated across genres to create impactful, community-centred performances.
His conducting has been internationally recognised, winning awards at the International Male Voice Festival for his excellence and innovation. Marcus has collaborated with world-renowned artists including Dame Evelyn Glennie, Craig Ogden, Olly Murs, and Nigel Shaw, demonstrating his ability to connect classical and contemporary styles with ease.
In addition to his choral work, Marcus has extensive experience in musical theatre, working as a musical director across a range of productions. He is a passionate advocate for equity and inclusion in the arts, ensuring that music remains a welcoming and transformative force in people’s lives.
