Music has been the heartbeat of Jacob’s life for as long as he can remember. From earning a Grade 8 Distinction in piano to performing on tuba and vocals, he has always found joy in creating and sharing music in its many forms.
Jacob began leading choirs back in secondary school, and that spark quickly grew into a lifelong passion. Over the years, he has conducted everything from rock-gospel and pop ensembles to classical and school choirs. He has done this alongside his various studies in music, achieving a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Research, and PGCE teaching qualifications along the way, all of which have contributed to his current love and understanding of choral harmony and expression.
Jacob’s journey with Rock Choir has taken him to some truly memorable moments, directing a 700-member flash mob in Birmingham city centre, performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and raising thousands for charity every year at the beautiful Pershore Abbey. One of the most unforgettable highlights was performing in front of Princess Anne at the prestigious Three Counties Showground. Choral music (alongside his other passion, brass band music) has always felt like home to him – rich in joy, camaraderie, and that irreplaceable sense of belonging that only music can create.
Whether he is composing original songs, diving into film scores, or simply enjoying a quiet evening with his wife, two boys, and their dog Benji, music continues to inspire every part of his life.
