Caroline Redman Lusher MBE

A National Honour for Music, Charity and Community

Caroline Redman Lusher was awarded an MBE in the King’s New Year Honours in recognition of her outstanding achievement in music and significant contribution to charity. For all of us across our Rock Choir community, this honour reflects not only Caroline’s musical vision and leadership, but the journey we have all been part of together.

As Founder and Creative Director of Rock Choir, Caroline has shaped a contemporary choir experience that brings people together nationwide and across the UK and Ireland. Her original vision was simple and powerful: to create an accessible and uplifting space where people from all walks of life could sing contemporary songs, without auditions, without the need to read music and without barriers.

Pioneering a contemporary choir movement nationwide

Since founding Rock Choir in 2005, Caroline has redefined what group singing can look and feel like. She introduced a fresh, modern approach to community choir singing, opening the door for thousands of people to discover their voice in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Through our Rock Choir community, people have found far more than music. They have built confidence, formed lasting friendships and experienced the uplifting benefits of singing together each week. What began as one idea has grown into a nationwide movement that continues to reach communities across the UK and Ireland.

Over 30,000 members and more than 400 weekly rehearsals

Today, more than 30,000 members take part in over 400 weekly rehearsals, coming together to enjoy feel-good music, shared experiences and a genuine sense of belonging. Each rehearsal is part of something bigger, a collective experience built on encouragement, connection and the joy of singing together.

This scale is a reflection of Caroline’s vision. She created a space where everyone is welcome and where music, friendship and support sit at the heart of everything we do.

Music, wellbeing and a shared sense of belonging

Caroline’s contribution reaches far beyond the rehearsal room. Group singing plays a powerful role in supporting mental health, physical wellbeing and confidence, and we see that impact every week across our choirs. Rock Choir offers a space where people can step away from daily pressures, reconnect with themselves and feel part of something positive.

That sense of belonging continues to shape our one-choir community and remains central to Caroline’s work and legacy.

Supporting charities and communities through the power of song

Giving back has always been part of our journey. Through Rock Choir, Caroline has led thousands of fundraising initiatives supporting both local and national charities, including Comic Relief, Mental Health Foundation, Cash for Kids, Refuge, Missing People and Nordoff Robbins.

Her belief in the power of music to uplift and support others has helped make a meaningful difference to communities, charities and individuals. It is a shared purpose that continues to unite us.

Caroline Redman Lusher MBE comments

“I’m overwhelmed with the news and thrilled to be given this prestigious honour. I feel fortunate every day, not only to be able to work with the greatest pop and rock songs of our time, but to share them with the public and in turn, improve lives. I wouldn’t have achieved any of the success and longevity without my dedicated, loyal and talented team who believe in me, believe in the magic of Rock Choir and help me to look after the wonderful Rockies, who take part in Rock Choir each week. Communities, organisations and charities all benefit from Rock Choir too; there’s a tick in every box as well as natural happiness and joy at every turn. As you can probably tell, there’s a lot of love in Rock Choir and I’m thrilled to celebrate this exciting news with my family, team and the Rockies.”
