⭐️ I'm New To Rock Choir ⭐️
What if I’m the worst singer in the room?
This is a really common worry and you’re not alone. Rock Choir is designed so everyone learns together in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. We don’t use written music to avoid pressure or anxiety; instead, you’ll get clear lyrics and learning resources. Your voice will naturally blend with the group, and confidence grows as you go.
Will I fit in if I come on my own and don’t know anyone?
Yes! Rock Choir is all about community and connection. Your Free Taster Session lasts around 90 minutes and includes warm-ups, learning part of a song, and hearing the choir perform — plus time to chat and meet people. You’re also welcome to bring a friend along (they just need to book their own taster), but plenty of people come on their own and quickly make new friends.
Is Rock Choir just for fun, or is it serious and demanding?
It’s fun, uplifting, and rewarding — with great results along the way. Each term you’ll learn 2 to 4 new songs across a range of contemporary styles, from feel-good anthems to powerful ballads. The focus is on enjoying the music, feeling good, and connecting with the songs, while being guided by a professional Choir Leader in a positive, encouraging atmosphere.
Can Rock Choir really help build my confidence?
For most people, it’s a real confidence boost. You’re never put on the spot, and performances are always optional. There’s no pressure to take part until you feel ready (or at all). You can simply enjoy the weekly rehearsals, learn at your own pace, and use the online audio and video resources to build confidence in your own time.
⭐️ Your Free Taster Session ⭐️
How long is a Free Taster Session?
Most taster sessions last around 90 minutes, with a short break so you can grab a drink and chat to your new friends. A typical Rock Choir rehearsal includes vocal warm-ups, learning part of a new song, and watching the choir perform one from their current repertoire.
What should I bring to my Free Taster Session?
Just bring yourself! Wear something comfortable, bring a drink to stay hydrated, and come ready to meet new friends. You don’t need any musical, vocal, or choir experience. No equipment is required.
What happens after my Free Taster Session?
After your Free Taster Session, you can activate your membership straight away and become an official member (‘Rockie’) to continue attending weekly rehearsals. You’ll also gain access to all the unique member-only musical resources, online rehearsals, and extra benefits available to you. Or, if you’d prefer to take a little time to decide, that’s absolutely fine. There’s no pressure.
How do I join Rock Choir after my Free Taster Session?
Once you’ve attended your Free Taster Session and would like to join, you’ll have received an email titled “IMPORTANT – Your unique link to access the Rock Choir Members Area.” This link gives you access to your Rock Choir Members Area. Simply set a password and create a security question and answer to continue the sign-up process. If you can’t find this email or the link has expired, just enter the email address you used to book your taster and click ‘Forgot Password’ to receive a new link.
Can I bring a friend to my Free Taster Session
Yes, you’re more than welcome to bring a friend – just make sure they also book their own Free Taster Session via our website. This allows us to contact both of you directly if there are any updates or changes to the rehearsal. Each person must register using their own email address, as our system doesn’t accept the same email for two people.
Can I change the date or location of my Free Taster Session?
Yes, you can. Simply log in to your account, and on the homepage you’ll see the option to ‘Change Taster Session’. From there, you can choose a different location or move to the next available date.
Do I have to audition or read music?
There’s no audition and you don’t need to read music. You’ll be joining a group of like-minded people who simply love to sing, most of whom won’t have any prior experience either. Your voice will soon blend with the group, and your professional Rock Choir Leader will guide you and help build your confidence from day one.
⭐️ Terms, Rehearsals, Performances And Events ⭐️
How many rehearsals are there in a term / Where can I find the term dates?
Rock Choir broadly follows the academic year, offering three 10-week terms across Spring, Summer and Autumn in England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. You can find the full list of term dates at the bottom of our website.
What sort of songs do you sing and how many a term?
Each term, we typically teach 2 to 4 brand new Rock Choir songs, while also revisiting favourites from earlier in the year or previous terms. Our repertoire spans a variety of contemporary styles and decades – from upbeat, feel-good anthems to emotional, powerful ballads. The narrative and meaning behind each song is a key factor in our choices, helping members connect on a deeper level and enjoy a truly uplifting experience.
Do I have to take part in the performances?
Not at all. Members are free to do as much or as little as they like and there’s no pressure to perform. While our performances are exciting and well-organised, you’re welcome to wait until you feel confident with the songs before joining in, or simply enjoy attending the weekly sessions without taking part in events.
Do I have to pay to be part of the performances or events?
Most Rock Choir performances and even media appearances are free to take part in, although you’ll need to cover your own travel and any refreshments on the day. While performances are always optional and at no cost to you, we also offer some truly exciting and unique member experiences – including International Tours, Recording Experiences including Abbey Road Studios, exclusive workshops and major UK arena events. Member experience events are ticketed and come at an additional cost if you would like to take part, but there’s never any pressure to do so.
My job is structured in shifts / I’m away for work or on holiday in the UK. Can I still attend Rock Choir?
Yes, you can! Alongside your HOME choir, you’re welcome to attend ANY other Rock Choir rehearsal across the UK, provided that choir isn’t at full capacity. The song repertoire is consistent across all locations, so you’ll fit right in.
To attend a different choir led by someone other than your own Choir Leader, please call HQ so they can book you in and notify the Choir Leader and prefect team.
If you’d like to attend another session run by your own Choir Leader, there’s no need to contact us – many Choir Leaders run multiple sessions on different days and times, giving you the flexibility to swap as needed. Just have a chat with your Choir Leader to let them know.
Do you have facilities and access for disabled members?
We always aim to hold our choir rehearsals in venues that offer disabled access and on-site facilities. You can check specific details by searching for your local choir using our locator tool.
Why has our normal rehearsal schedule been replaced by workshops this term?
On rare occasions, when your usual Rock Choir Leader is unavailable to run rehearsals as planned, workshops may be offered instead. These sessions will be led by a trained, alternative Rock Choir Leader and will run for a short period until the regular schedule resumes.
What if I am going on holiday during term time?
You’re more than welcome to double up on rehearsals before you go and after you return to catch up. You’ll also continue to have access to all your musical resources during that time, or you can join in with the online choir.
If you’re holidaying in the UK, you may even find a local Rock Choir rehearsal near your destination! Call HQ to book your place and you’ll be more than welcome to attend that session.
⭐️ Paying For Rock Choir ⭐️
How much is Rock Choir?

What are the payment methods?
You can pay for your membership either by Direct Debit (£30 / €35 monthly) or Termly (£120 / €140 each term). Payment can be made online through your member’s account under the ‘My Payments’ tab. *
If you are unable to make your payment online, please contact HQ on +44 (0)1252 714 276 to organise an alternative method of payment.
What do the fees cover?
Your membership fees help cover the cost of your professional Choir Leader, venue hire, the creation of musical resources, and all necessary performance licences and copyright fees. They also support the ongoing maintenance of our website, VAT, staff wages, admin support, and the day-to-day running of Rock Choir as a business.
Do you offer discounts or concessions?
Yes – we offer concessions for full-time higher education students, serving members of the armed forces, and families with three or more immediate relatives taking part in Rock Choir. Please contact HQ for more details.
Why am I paying for Rock Choir during the academic holidays when there are no rehearsals?
Rock Choir membership is £360 (€420) per year (3 terms at £120 / €140). Direct Debit payments are £30 (€35) per month, taken over 12 months, which means payments continue even during months when there are no Rock Choir rehearsals.
The £30 (€35) monthly payments cover:
January / February / March / April – Spring Term (£120 / €140) *
May / June / July / August – Summer Term (£120 / €140) *
September / October / November / December – Autumn Term (£120 / €140) *
Ireland Membership Fees:
Rock Choir membership in Ireland is €420 per year (3 terms at €140). Direct Debit payments are €35 per month, taken over 12 months, which means payments continue even during months when there are no Rock Choir rehearsals.
The €35 monthly payments cover:
January / February / March / April – Spring Term (€140)
May / June / July / August – Summer Term (€140)
September / October / November / December – Autumn Term (€140)
Will I get a refund if I don’t attend all the sessions in the term?
We ask for a termly commitment to Rock Choir, and only in exceptional circumstances would we be able to offer a refund.
Why are the Termly payments split as Deposit and Balance? Can I pay in full?
Members can choose to pay once each term instead of spreading the cost monthly by Direct Debit. It is possible to make a full payment by ticking ‘Select’ in both payment boxes, which adds the figures together. We also offer the option of splitting the term’s payment into two – a deposit and the remaining balance. Paying the deposit secures your place for the following term, which is especially useful as choirs often reach capacity.
How are my fees calculated if I join Rock Choir part way through a term?
After your free taster session, the remaining fees for that term are calculated based on how many weeks are left in the 10-week schedule. You can then choose to pay a one-off fee or sign up to pay by Direct Debit.
⭐️ Uniform And Music Resources ⭐️
Where do I buy the Rock Choir performance uniform?
Uniform and merchandise are available through the ‘Geiger Shop’*. Rock Choir uniform is only available to members, and you can order any uniform item or official Rock Choir merchandise by clicking ‘Shop’ in your Members Area.
*Geiger is an independent clothing and merchandise company that works alongside us to provide Rock Choir’s official uniform and branded items. Their online shop is separate from the Rock Choir website, so once you’ve navigated there, you’ll need to create an account at checkout by registering your details.
If you prefer, you can contact Geiger’s Customer Services Team by phone on 020 8587 3381 or by email at customerservice@geiger.com.
How do I download my lyric and audio resources?
Your song lyrics and audio resources can be downloaded from the ‘Song Resources’ section of your Member’s account.
If you’re using a laptop or PC, this section will appear in the menu running across the top of the Member’s Area. On a smartphone or tablet, tap the small round button with three lines in the top left-hand corner to bring up the menu.
Once you’re in the ‘Song Resources’ section, you’ll see folders listed alphabetically, one for each song available to your choir. Inside each folder, you’ll find the relevant files ready to download.
How do I access my lyrics, audio and visual musical resources?
Lyrics, audio and visual resources, performance information, and term dates, can be found in your ‘Song Resources’ area.
To log in, click the ‘Members Login’ tab, located either in the top right-hand corner or at the bottom of our website.
Lyrics are available before a song is taught, so you can access them from your device during rehearsals or print them off and bring them with you. Audio and visual resources become available after the song has been taught by your Leader. These are designed as learning aids to support your progress.
Please note that resources are only accessible when Membership payments are up to date.
Can Members have access to the musical scores?
We offer an all-inclusive learning experience that allows everyone to feel equal in each rehearsal. Most Members do not have any musical experience, so we do not distribute written music in order to avoid any anxiety. Instead, all Members are given a set of clear, carefully prepared annotated lyrics that guide and cue them through the song as it’s taught. Members also have access to audio and visual resources once the song has been learnt.
