Lesley Howard – Rock Choir Bolton

When Lesley first joined Rock Choir, she was looking for something that was completely her own.

“I was desperate to find something just for myself.”

What she discovered was far more than a weekly singing session. She found friendship, laughter, memorable experiences and a community that has become an important part of her life.

“My Thursday evening is therapy time”

For Lesley, Thursday evenings have become one of the highlights of every week.

“I regard my Thursday evening as therapy time!!”

Like many Rockies, she looks forward to the chance to leave everyday worries behind, spend time with friends and enjoy singing together.

“I have made friends for life and we have a special bond.”

The sense of community has become just as important as the music itself.

From Abbey Road to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom

Over the years, Lesley has enjoyed some incredible Rock Choir experiences.

Among her favourites are singing at Abbey Road Studios and performing in the world-famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

“Singing at Blackpool Tower Ballroom and Abbey Road.”

The Blackpool Tower Ballroom has been welcoming dancers, performers and visitors since 1894 and remains one of the country’s most iconic entertainment venues, making it a memorable place for any performance.

Recording at Abbey Road Studios was equally special, giving Lesley the chance to sing in one of the most famous recording studios in the world.

An unforgettable journey to Wembley

Sometimes it is not only the performance itself that becomes a cherished memory.

“Travelling on a coach to Wembley was definitely unforgettable.”

Sharing journeys, excitement and anticipation with fellow Rockies is often just as important as stepping onto the stage, helping create friendships and memories that last long after the event is over.

Sharing joy with the community

One performance that holds particular significance for Lesley takes place closer to home.

“Singing at Bolton Parish Church at Christmas for the Endeavour Project is always very important.”

She values the opportunity to use music to support others and bring happiness to people who may be facing difficult circumstances.

“Thinking about others and how we can share some joy and happiness to others in difficult times.”

For Lesley, Rock Choir is about more than singing. It is about friendship, community and making a positive difference wherever possible.

One big family

Looking back, Lesley describes Rock Choir in the simplest possible way.

“One huge big family!!”

From weekly rehearsals in Bolton to iconic venues across the country, Rock Choir has given her a place to belong, something to look forward to and friendships that will last a lifetime.
