Martin Geary – Rock Choir Watford
Martin first joined Rock Choir after his wife suggested it as something social to do during the week instead of staying at home watching television or heading to the pub.
What started as trying something different soon became an important part of both their lives.
“It is such great fun coming to rehearsals every week.”
Joining their local Rock Choir in Watford introduced them to music, performances and a whole new social circle.
Building friendships through choir
For Martin, one of the biggest highlights has been the friendships that have grown through the choir community.
“We have made and built a good social circle in and out of choir.”
Over time, rehearsals became much more than learning songs. They became evenings filled with laughter, music and people coming together.
Martin and fellow members have even organised social events outside rehearsals, including Christmas parties and karaoke evenings, helping friendships continue long after rehearsals finish.

As a lifelong Beatles fan, stepping inside Abbey Road Studios was something he never imagined would happen.
“I never in my wildest dreams would ever step foot in these recording studios filled with such musical history.”
Known worldwide for its connection to The Beatles and countless legendary recordings, Abbey Road Studios became an emotional and unforgettable moment for him.
“I was so emotional and overwhelmed when I stepped into Studio 1 & 2.”
For Martin, it was a genuine bucket-list experience made possible through Rock Choir.
A positive boost during difficult times
Rock Choir has also helped Martin during periods of uncertainty and challenge, particularly while being out of work.
“It is such a huge mental health booster during some really tough challenges.”
Having rehearsals, performances and people around him each week gave him something positive to focus on.
“We always come out smiling after a good sing-song after a rubbish day.”
