Paul’s first job as a musical director was at the age of 17. Along with a couple of musical-loving friends, he sat around at lunchtime and decided to put on the musical Little Shop of Horrors at their school. “How hard could it be?!” they pleaded with the headteacher to lend them the money to buy the performing license, and he trustfully agreed. They discussed the show roles and who could handle the music side of things, and Paul hastily said, “I can do that!” Having no idea what he was doing other than how to play the piano, Paul led the cast through rehearsals and (somehow!) conducted the band through the performances. This experience ignited his love of music, theatre, and conducting, and it was from this moment that his music career and passion truly began.

Since then, Paul has worked as a musical director on hundreds of different projects, waving his arms musically in many different contexts all across the country. One of his career highlights so far was touring the UK in Graceland Live, working with an incredible cast of musicians and performing the iconic Paul Simon album in remarkable venues up and down the country. Paul loves working with singers to help them get the best out of themselves and working on crafting the musicality of performance.

Working in such a creative industry truly is a blessing, and Paul counts himself incredibly lucky to do what he does for a living. Working with Rock Choir since September 2023 has been incredible, and he is thrilled to continue on his journey
