Nicola is a classically trained soprano with a lifelong love of singing. She joined the National Youth Choir of Scotland when she was just 8 years old, and has been part of choirs ever since. That early experience inspired her to study music more deeply, and she became one of the first graduates of the University of Aberdeen’s BMus (Hons) Music and Communities programme—an innovative course that focused on how music can bring people together.
After graduating, Nicola worked with Music 4 U, a fantastic charity supporting disabled and disadvantaged children and young people through music. That experience really deepened her belief in the power of music as a tool for inclusion, confidence and self-expression.
Nicola became a Rock Choir Leader in 2015, starting out in Aberdeen and then making the move to London in 2019. Over the past 10 years, she has had the joy of helping hundreds of people discover the thrill and release of group singing. Nicola loves watching people grow in confidence, find their voice, and make lasting friendships along the way.
For Nicola, singing is about more than just making music—it’s a brilliant outlet, a stress-reliever, and a way to connect with others in a really special way. She is passionate about creating a welcoming, encouraging space where everyone feels they can take part, regardless of musical experience.
Nicola says ‘being part of the Rock Choir team is such a privilege. Every session is full of laughter, energy and heart—and I’m constantly inspired by the amazing people I get to work with each week’.
