Liam Priestnall is a music-obsessed, harmony-loving, instrument-collecting whirlwind who somehow manages to squeeze several musical lives into one. A rock choir leader by day (and sometimes night), Liam brings a contagious energy to every rehearsal—whether it’s getting a group of 60 people to nail a Queen harmony or making them laugh while they try.

His musical journey began at age 11, when he started learning piano—not because anyone made him, but because he fell in love with the idea of making music from scratch. That curiosity quickly snowballed into a full-blown obsession. He went on to teach himself drums, guitar, and bass (in part because forming bands is easier when you can play everyone else’s parts too). By 16, he was composing music for film projects and short animations—because regular teenage hobbies just weren’t cutting it.

At 19, Liam added singing to the mix, and things really took off. After years of being “the guy behind the keyboard,” he discovered the magic of using his own voice to lead the charge. He hasn’t stopped since.

His passion for film music led him to study Music Composition and Technology for Film and Games at university, graduating with First-Class Honours. As part of his degree, Liam spent time in Los Angeles, diving into the world of Hollywood scoring and jazz theory at California State University, Long Beach. There, he soaked up inspiration from the cinematic heartland—and a bit of California sunshine too.

Now back in the UK, Liam is busier than ever. He leads multiple rock choirs with enthusiasm, warmth, and the occasional bad pun. His sessions are known for being equal parts musically rewarding and ridiculously fun. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or just there for the good vibes, Liam makes everyone feel at home—and somehow gets them sounding like a rock band with voices by the end of it.

Outside of choir life, Liam composes for film and media, runs a home studio in Ware, and is an active member of four different bands. These range from original indie and alt-pop projects to high-energy function bands that keep weddings and parties dancing into the night. One of those projects, Midnight Repost, features his songwriting and co-production and has been featured on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio Essex.

When he’s not rehearsing, gigging, recording, arranging, composing, or teaching (which, frankly, isn’t often), you’ll probably find Liam trying to find room in his house for yet another keyboard—or writing bios like this one in the third person.

Whether he’s leading a room full of singers or layering tracks in the studio, Liam’s mission is simple: to make music that connects, excites, and maybe even gives people goosebumps. And if he can sneak a joke in there too? Even better.
