Tanita – Rock Choir Glasthule

It was during a night out at karaoke that Tanita realised just how much had changed.

She was the first person up, singing and dancing before encouraging everyone else to get involved too.

“This would not have been me at all before joining.”

Tanita hasn’t been part of Rock Choir for very long, but in that short time she has already noticed a real difference in her confidence, friendships and musical abilities.

Finding Rock Choir through a recommendation

Tanita first heard about Rock Choir through someone in her ADHD group who attended a Rock Choir in the north of Dublin.

That recommendation eventually led her to join the Glasthule Rock Choir, and it didn’t take long for choir to become much more than a weekly rehearsal.

“I’ve only been in Rock Choir for a short time, but it has had such a huge impact on my life and has been so beneficial!”

She has made new friends, found a regular travel buddy for choir and started spending time with fellow Rockies outside rehearsals too.

From going for lunch together to trips to the Disney Store and other days out, those friendships have quickly become an important part of Tanita’s experience.

Supporting someone else to find their voice

One of Tanita’s favourite memories isn’t about being centre stage herself.

When newcomers joined the choir, she swapped the vocal harmony she was singing so that they wouldn’t have to sing their part alone.

It’s a small moment, but one that reflects the supportive environment Tanita herself has found since joining.

That sense of encouragement has followed her outside rehearsals too. When she recently went to karaoke with friends, instead of holding back, Tanita found herself leading the way.

“I was the first one up singing and dancing and supporting and encouraging everyone else to get up!”

For Tanita, it was a moment that made her recognise how much her confidence had grown.

Singing at Bewley’s

There have already been some memorable performances too.

A particular highlight was singing from the balcony at Bewley’s Café, an experience that stands out as Tanita’s favourite since joining.

But it is the combination of performing, friendship and having somewhere to switch off each week that has made Rock Choir such a welcome part of her life.

“It’s such a nice thing to look forward to every week and a real break from the world we live in.”

For an hour and a half, Tanita describes being able to simply be present, connected and creative alongside like-minded people in a supportive environment.

She may only be at the beginning of her Rock Choir story, but already it has brought new friendships, new experiences and a confidence that she’s beginning to notice well beyond rehearsals.
