Paula Taylor – Rock Choir Paisley

Paula joined Rock Choir after moving from Essex to Paisley, looking for a way to meet people and feel more connected to her new area.

“I moved up from Essex to Paisley and didn’t know anyone.”

After being recommended to try Rock Choir, she decided to attend a taster session with her local choir in Paisley — a decision that quickly became an important part of settling into her new community.

A memorable first rehearsal

Paula still clearly remembers her very first taster session and the moment she thought she was about to be put on the spot.

“When our leader Jen asked me to come to the front I thought it was to sing a song. Petrified or what!”

Thankfully, the nerves quickly disappeared as she realised how welcoming and supportive everyone around her was.

That immediate sense of kindness helped Paula feel comfortable from the very beginning.

Performing everywhere from Abbey Road to rainy gigs

Since joining Rock Choir in Paisley, Paula has loved taking part in performances and events of all sizes.

“Apart from having a laugh at our weekly rehearsal, I loved recording at Abbey Road.”

Recording at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios became one of her standout experiences, especially knowing the incredible musical history connected to the London recording studio.

But for Paula, it’s not just the major moments that matter.

“I’ve also enjoyed every gig I’ve done, even the ones in the rain!”

From local performances around Paisley to unforgettable recording experiences, she enjoys every opportunity to sing alongside fellow Rockies.

Feeling part of the community

One of the things Paula values most is how Rock Choir helped her feel connected after moving somewhere completely new.

“I have made some lovely friends and feel like I’m part of my new community.”

Through performances across the local area, she has also had the chance to explore places around Paisley and beyond that she may never otherwise have discovered.

“For a newbie to Paisley, it’s been great getting to see these places.”

Laughter, friendship and feeling at home

For Paula, Rock Choir has become far more than just weekly rehearsals.

It has brought laughter, friendships and a genuine feeling of belonging in a new part of the country.

Whether performing in the rain, laughing through rehearsals or singing at iconic venues, Rock Choir has helped Paula feel completely at home in Paisley.
