Rebecca Rowe
Rebecca a BA degree in Jazz Music from Leeds College of Music. Although she studied Jazz at University, she is classically trained and performs and teaches in all sorts of genres as a Musician. She first became interested in choral music through Blackburn Cathedral, performing for the Mayor and Mayoress, Jack Straw and Condoleezza Rice.
During her time at University, she volunteered with the Children’s Chorus at Opera North, inspiring her to not only be part of a choir, but also lead a choir. In her training as a Conductor, she observed and was tutored by Jac Van Steen, Jonathan Lo, Thomas Newall and Justin Doyle. As a Singer, she collaborated with Musicians from up and down the country to develop original music.
While studying with Lauren Kinsella, Rebecca developed her own music and has performed at venues such as 7 Arts, Lotherton Hall, and Leeds Town Hall. Recently, she was invited to support renowned UK Jazz singer Ian Shaw when he was in Leeds, as part of his tour performing the Jewish Song Book.
Choral music and performance are not the only practices that Rebecca pursues in her career; she is also a vocal instructor delivering specialist tuition for Harrogate Music Service, Leeds West Academy and Richmond House Preparatory School.
“I love teaching as it is a pleasure to mould and shape voices, and it’s extremely rewarding to see students’ progress and take control of their voice. I’m so excited to be working with Rock Choir! I love popular music, and when voices layer in harmony, there is truly no better sound in music. I love the energy, excitement, the drive and commitment of the members. With Rock Choir, I’m able to combine my performance, teaching and conducting skills all in one, and that is very fun”
