Julie Cleave

Julie is a classically trained musician who started out as a French Horn player and pianist. She has a BA in Music Performance from The UHI and a BEd hons in Music Education from The University of Aberdeen.

Over the years she gravitated towards singing and carved out a career as a vocalist, performing with various bands around the country and touring the French Alps. Julie has had the opportunity to support many acts such as Chic, Billy Ocean and Average White Band. More recently she was part of the first choir and then band to play in the V & A Dundee supporting Hugh and Cry. Julie also performed at 2017 Celtic Connections as part of the Gaels Blue Orchestra. A band put together by Alice Marra who performed an album of her late father, Mick Marra’s music. Julie has performed with Choirs since she began studying music at the age of 8 and had the pleasure of performing with Jose Carreras in the Usher Hall with the City of Glasgow Chorus in 2006. She was also a member of the University of Aberdeen Chorus and the lead singer for their Big Band for two years. Julie has taught music for many years not only as a High School Music Teacher but as a private singing teacher, working for Perth College, Aberdeen Foyer, Fife and Angus Council.

For Julie, singing is a lifelong passion and she is thrilled to be part of the Rock Choir team. Rock Choir gives her the opportunity to provide a unique experience for her choir members and share the joy of singing.
