Catherine Courtley studied voice and piano from an early age and gained the highest marks in her county for her grade 6, 7 and 8 piano exams, for which she was awarded the Dorothy Atkinson Memorial prize.
After teaching herself to play guitar, Catherine later formed a band called ‘The Vanderbilts’ and performed in legendary live music venues across London including The Half Moon, The Bedford and The Troubadour.
Catherine is passionate about songwriting and runs her own personalised songwriting gift service called ‘The Gift of Song’. She is a platinum member of The Songwriting Academy and has collaborated with platinum-selling songwriters such as Martin Sutton and Charlie Dore.
Catherine is a natural teacher and the biggest thrill she gets from Rock Choir is seeing how music can bring people out of themselves, and bring people together.
